NADD-DDS

Who Should Apply?
The NADD Specialist Certification is designed for professionals who provide, manage, coordinate, supervise, or support services for individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and co-occurring mental health needs.
Developed in partnership with NASDDDS, industry leaders, and more. The certification is appropriate for professionals working in a wide range of roles, including:
- Case managers and care coordinators
- Behavioral health specialists
- Program coordinators, managers, and supervisors
- Special education professionals
- Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals (QIDPs)
- Supports coordinators
- Peer specialists
- Trainers and other professionals supporting Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and co-occurring mental health needs.
- Professionals working in clinical or therapeutic roles who do not meet the eligibility requirements for NADD Clinical Certification

The NADD-DDS recognizes professionals whose work requires specialized knowledge and competency in supporting people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and co-occurring mental health needs, whether their role is primarily clinical, behavioral, educational, administrative, or support-focused.

Upon earning certification you are entitled to use the NADD-DDS designation professionally, a mark of distinction in IDD/MH Dual
Diagnosis care.
NADD Membership is required
for certification.

Online Training Modules
Self-paced online modules designed to deepen your understanding of IDD/MH Dual Diagnosis best practices are available through the NADD learning portal. The full training package is $75.
How to Get Certified
Optional: Prepare with NADD Training
Training is not required for certification, but our Specialist core competency training is a recommended way to prepare.
Step 1: Become a Member
NADD membership is required for certification. Join or renew your membership to get started.
Step 2: Apply
Log in and submit your Specialist Certification application, including the prerequisites and required documentation.
Step 3: Complete Your Certification Interview
NADD Specialist Certification is assessed through an interview with our review panel. Once your application is approved, you’ll schedule and complete your interview.
Step 4: Earn Your Credential
Upon successful completion, you’ll receive your NADD-DDS Specialist Certification.
